Greetings in the
name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
I would like, through the Gift of the Holy Spirit,
to reveal "Vision 2010" to our people. Vision 2010
is God's plan for our ministry and will include a progressive,
state-of-the-art salt dome equipped with all the latest technological
instruments that will allow us to reach the world with the
Gospel.
Now make way, dear mothers and fathers, brothers
and sisters of New Pilgrim Baptist Church for "The Nehemiah
Project." Faithful readers of the Old Testament know
the role Nehemiah played in restoring the physical aspects
of Jerusalem, first was rebuilding the wall, after the return
from captivity. Indeed, the Word says:
“Then answered I them, and said unto them,
The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore, we his servants
will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor
memorial, in Jerusalem.” – Nehemiah 2:20
This timeless verse applies to us now as we
embark upon a capital campaign that will see our church raise
$4.2million. Taken as a whole, this amount seems to be an
insurmountable sum. Broken down, however, 300 pledges from
individuals and/or businesses will mean $600,000 in year one.
Then each individual and/or business will reach out to one
other individual and/or business.
Here is where the capital campaign becomes more
financially manageable. Each pledge will become a “Vision
2010 Nehemiah Project Faith Builder.” Your $2,000 pledge
can be arrived at by giving $300 a year for seven years; $25
a month for seven years; $7 a week for 7 years or $1 a day
for seven years. The Faith Builder benefits will be a quarterly
statement, newsletter and updates, names and Faith Builders’
2-7-2 number printed on a plaque and mounted on a church wall.
Funds will be invested in a stable value/money
market account. Payroll deduction will be available with annual
tax-deduction forms provided. Pledges may be made through
traditional tithe/offerings and weekly collections.
“Now set your heart and your soul to seek
the Lord your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary
of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord,
and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be
built to the name of the Lord.” 1 Chronicles 22:19
For the church, vision must come from God. Every good leader
must have vision. Vision is not always practical or logical.
If it were, it would cease to be vision.
